Thank you for caring enough to have your cat spayed or neutered. Millions of cats and kittens are killed each year in shelters across the country simply for lack of a home.  Below are several options for spay/neuter programs.​  Plans & prices subject to change.

NH SPCA - Stratham

The NHSPCA offers low cost cat spay/neuter clinics providing several different programs based on financial need. Please call for pricing. Fees include a physical exam, spay or neuter and a nail trim. Rabies and Distemper vaccines, microchipping and flea/tick preventative are also available for an additional fee. Payment for clinics is required at the time of registration. Animal Allies Spay & Neuter Program

For the Animal Allies program, they work with two veterinary practices, Suncook River Veterinary Clinic and Pembroke Animal Hospital. Please download and fill out the consent form for the location you would like the procedure done.

Available to any cat owner who cannot afford the regular cost of spaying or neutering.

Costs:

  • Female Cats: $90

  • Male Cats: $55

 

When: Clinics are held up to three times a month and fill up quickly. Please sign up using our online calendar.

NH Spay/Neuter Program

Available to NH residents who need financial assistance.

Costs:

  • Female Dogs $70

  • Male Dogs $50

  • Female Cats $50

  • Male Cats $35

 

Procedure:

  • If approved, mail-in application with appropriate fee

  • You will be sent a certificate and list of participating veterinarians

  • Call and make an appointment with a participating veterinarian

NH Animal Population Control Program – Plan B

Available to NH Residents who receive, or are eligible for, benefits from:

  • Food Stamps

  • Aid to the Needy Blind

  • Medicaid

  • Healthy Kids Gold

  • Old Age Assistance

  • AFDC

  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

  • Aid to the Permanently and Totally Disabled

 

Costs:

  • Pet owner pays fee directly to the veterinarian.

  • The Uncomplicated Surgery Fee covers a pre-surgical exam and up to $15 in rabies immunizations.

  • Uncomplicated Surgery: $25

  • In heat, pregnant spays, retained testicles or any other extraordinary expenses: will result in additional charges

Procedure Plan B Forms:

  • or, pick up Plan B Forms at the NH Division of Welfare District Office or NH Department of Agriculture, APC Program in Concord, NH by calling 271-3697.

  • Complete form

  • Send to the address on the top of the form (State of NH) along with proof of State program you are on and a copy of your NH driver’s license or official NH photo ID, if you don’t have a driver’s license

  • Wait for approval: The State will mail you your approval

  • Follow instructions in that mail to make your appointment with a participating vet. Shop around and confirm with the vet you choose what you can expect will be the total cost due the day of surgery as we have learned from people we help that this can vary greatly.

NH Humane Society, Laconia, NH PAW Program (Pet Altering Welfare)

Cost: $10

Qualification: People already receiving assistance in NH

Weight Limit: Animal can be up to 50 pounds

Considerations: If animal is unvaccinated, has mites, fleas or worms, these must be treated first. Consult NHHumane.org for more info.

Solutions to Overpopulations of Pets: "STOP" (Spay Program for Mother Cats)

Available to: NH residents with a female cat (which has already had a litter or is currently pregnant) who do not qualify under either NH Plan A or B.


Cost: Pay a full fee to the veterinarian.
Receive a $25.00 refund from STOP after the surgery is complete.

Animal Rescue Veterinary Services (ARVS)

Procedure: Visit the ARVS website.

Cost: See costs for services.

Qualification: Pets must be less than five years old.

Weight Limit: See the website for specifications.

Considerations: While at the clinic your pet will have surgery, be given pain medications, have toenails clipped, be treated for fleas and ear mites, and be given rabies and distemper vaccines.

Consideration: The RMAA Feline Fix It Wagon is a mobile spay/neuter unit designed specifically for cats and will be traveling to various New Hampshire and Western Maine locations.

Manchester Animal Shelter Quick Fix Clinic

Information: Visit the Manchester Animal Shelter Quick Fix Clinic website.

Services: Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter has an important program called the Quick Fix Clinic, a low-cost spay/neuter program for low-income residents of Manchester. This clinic will alter and give vaccines to cats that are owned by low-income families of Manchester.
