Low Cost Spay & Neuter Services

NH Animal Population Control Program - Plan B

Available to:
New Hampshire residents who receive, or are eligible for, benefits from:

Food Stamps

Aid to the Needy Blind

Medicaid

Old Age Assistance

AFDC

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Aid to the Permanently and
Totally Disabled

 

Costs:
$25.00 - Pet owner pays fee directly to the veterinarian.
Pre-surgery immunizations are covered up to $30.00.
Procedure:

  1. For NH State residents ONLY
  2. For pets you already own
  3. Obtain a Plan B application, and list of veterinarians from:
    1. An adoption center like the NHSPCA
    2. the NH Division of Welfare District Office, or
    3. the NH Department of Agriculture, APC Program, State House Annex 33 Capitol Street, Concord, NH 03301, 603-271-3697.
  4. Complete Part 1 of the application and return it to the APC Program with proof of eligibility. (It will be sent back to you)
  5. Call a participating veterinarian for an appointment.
  6. Present Plan B application and pay $25.00 to the vet.
  7. The state reimburses the veterinarian for the remaining cost of the surgery.

NH Spaying and Altering Service Program

Available to:
NH residents who need financial assistance.
Costs:
Dogs: $70(females), $50 (males)
Cats: $50 (females), $35 (males)
Procedure:  Call or write for an application:

  1. If approved, mail in application with appropriate fee and you will be sent a certificate and list of participating veterinarians.
  2. Call and make an appointment with a participating veterinarian.

 

Solutions to Overpopulations of Pets(STOP)

(Spay Program for Mother Cats)

Available to:
NH residents with a female cat (which has already had a litter or is currently pregnant) who do not qualify under either NH Plan A or B.
Cost:
Pay full fee to the veterinarian.
Receive a $25.00 refund from STOP after the surgery is complete.
Procedure:

  1. Once approved, have the cat spayed by any licensed NH veterinarian.
  2. Send information to the STOP program to receive a $25.00 refund.

Friends of Animals Program

Available to:
Any cat or dog owner regardless of financial need.
Costs:
Dogs: $75 (females), $54 (males)
Cats: $55 (females), $40 (males)
Procedure:

  1. Call or write for an application: Friends of Animals, PO Box 30054, Hartford, CT 06150 — 1-800-321-PETS (800-321-7387)
  2. Mail in application with appropriate fee.

Upon receipt of certificate, make an appointment with any participating veterinarian. (A list will be sent with your application.)
